Room 6 has worked on The Problem of the Month entitled the Wheel Shop for 4 days this month. The Problems of the Month are used in a variety of ways to promote problemāsolving and to foster the first standard of mathematical practice from the Common Core State Standards: “Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.” The POM is used to promote problemāsolving and to address the differentiated needs of all students. Although obtaining a solution(s) to the problems is the goal, the process of learning how to problem –solve is even more important. They worked with their math partner(s) over many days to tackle 1-2 tasks from The Wheel Shop problem. Please have your son/daughter share their thinking with you.
